Correct way to enter a URL under edit blogroll?

Under edit blogroll, it wants you to enter the URL for the site you want others to be able to go to. In the 'yellow boxes', what is the correct 'form' or way to write the URL, so when they click on the site's name on your blogroll, it will actually take them to that site. I'm doing something incorrectly and can't figure it out! For example: for a site called the chronicle project, I am entering www.thechronicle project.com/ that takes me to a blank page, not the site.

for any help! I tried that. I also have others that end in .org, and the same thing happens. Or I get the page that says in purple this is not a valid URL Any ideas?
